About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Technical Specialist to provide advanced technical leadership and engineering oversight across all systems. You will assume specific accountability as the legally appointed GMR 2.1 responsible person for machinery and plant safety. This role ensures all equipment and maintenance practices comply with statutory regulations.

Responsibilities

Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive machinery safety programme.
Develop preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for plant equipment.
Approve and monitor risk assessments related to engineering systems.
Lead hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA) across systems.
Coordinate engineering workflows with operations, safety, and facilities teams.
Manage external contractor performance, compliance, and service delivery.

Key Requirements

National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) – Factories preferred.
Minimum 5–10 years’ relevant engineering experience in plant/facilities.
Must be eligible and competent to be appointed as a GMR 2.1.
Deep understanding of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations.
Proven experience maintaining statutory records, permits, and certificates.
