Deputy Director: Financial Accounting, Ref No. WCMD 90/2026

Minimum Requirements

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Financial Management at NQF level 7. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Financial Accounting working environment at a supervisory/management level. 

Key Performance Areas

•  Manage the financial revenue, expenditure management and accounting Subdirectorate; Undertake revenue, expenditure management and accounting work as required;
• Plan and manage the work of and account for the overall performance of the Subdirectorate; People Management; Financial Management.

Competencies

• Knowledge in the following: Implement legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices relevant to the line functions; manage departmental accounting services; use information systems that support the management of knowledge and information relating to the line function; manage projects; implement operational management practices; manage procurement and tendering processes; develop, implement, monitor and review policies and operational processes; manage modern systems of governance and administration; manage public service procedures, processes and systems; manage public finance, human resources and related management processes; manage financial processes in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act, 1999, National Treasury Regulations, Provincial Treasury Instructions and other applicable financial policies, prescripts, directives and collective agreements;
• Skills: perform numeracy and literacy functions; use computer systems effectively; communicate effectively in the required language; manage projects; perform accounting, finance and audit functions; conduct economic, financial and statistical analysis;
• Other: plan and organise activities; conduct analytical assessments; compile and write reports; communicate effectively; deliver presentations; maintain effective interpersonal relationships; solve problems; perform supervisory functions; work effectively under pressure; travel frequently when required; work irregular hours when required; meet tight deadlines.

Remuneration

• All-inclusive salary package of R 932 292 per annum (Salary level 11).
