Job purpose
- To install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot and repair radio communication and wireless network systems
Appointment requirements
The following relevant technical certifications or knowledge will be an added advantage:
- Knowledge of RF principles, antenna systems, microwave communication and wireless networking; experience with VHF, UHF, HF, digital mobile radio (DMR), TETRA, P25, LTE or similar radio technologies; occupational health and safety certification; working at heights certification; Network+
- At least one to two years’ experience in radio communications, wireless systems or telecommunications in the ICT industry
- A valid Code B driving licence and willingness to travel to remote sites if required
- Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments when maintaining antennas and communication towers
- Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions
- Install, configure, maintain and repair radio and wireless communication infrastructure to ensure reliable, efficient and uninterrupted communication services
- Monitor the performance of radio and wireless communication systems and provide technical support to ensure optimal system availability and reliability
- Configure, test and optimise radio frequency communication systems to improve coverage, performance and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with the applicable regulatory, licensing, organisational and safety standards that govern radio and wireless communication systems
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, maintenance records and asset information to support effective administration and life cycle management of communication infrastructure
- Support emergency communication services and business continuity initiatives to ensure the resilience and availability of critical communication systems
