Hospitality Hire is recruiting an experienced General Manager to take full operational leadership of a luxury game lodge in the Limpopo area closer to Hoedspruit.
This is not a purely guest-facing lodge management position. We are looking for a commercially aware, hands-on General Manager who can take ownership across the entire operation. People, financial controls, departmental performance, property standards and the luxury guest experience.

POSITION INFO:
You will need to be equally comfortable reviewing costs and operational performance, leading department heads, resolving challenges on the floor and engaging personally with guests . The lodge operates around the clock, and this position requires a visible leader who understands the realities of managing a high-end safari property and knows when to lead strategically and when to step directly into the operation. Minimum 5 years' Lodge Management experience OR 2 years' General Manager experience within a high-end hospitality establishment is essential. What You Need to Bring Proven Lodge Leadership Minimum 5 years' Lodge Management experience OR 2 years' General Manager experience within a high-end establishment - Proven experience within a luxury game lodge, safari lodge or comparable high-end hospitality operation - Strong understanding of the operational demands of a 24-hour lodge environment - Experience overseeing multiple departments including Front of House, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, Finance, Operations and HR - Stable and progressive hospitality career history - Contactable professional references essential Commercial & Financial Control Strong financial and commercial awareness - Experience managing operational expenditure and controlling costs - Ability to identify unnecessary expenditure and implement practical cost-control measures - Strong administrative discipline and attention to operational controls - Ability to balance luxury service standards with sound commercial decision-making Leadership & People Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop hospitality teams - Strong HR and people-management capabilities - Confident managing performance and maintaining professional standards across departments - Calm, solutions-focused and able to make sound decisions under pressure - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Luxury Guest Experience Strong hosting ability and confidence engaging with discerning local and international guests - Genuine understanding of personalised luxury hospitality - Ability to maintain consistently high guest and service standards throughout the property - Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve operational or guest-service issues quickly A relevant tertiary qualification in Hospitality or Management will be advantageous. What You'll Take Ownership Of As General Manager , you will be responsible for the overall performance and day-to-day leadership of the lodge. You will lead the management team, oversee departmental performance, maintain operational and financial controls, support and develop employees, protect the guest experience and ensure standards are consistently maintained throughout the property. You will work across Front of House, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, Finance, Operations and HR , ensuring departments operate cohesively and that both commercial and hospitality objectives are achieved. We are specifically looking for a General Manager who wants to be present in the operation rather than managing exclusively from an office .
