Laboratory Technician Level 1: Nematology (Nemlab)

Nemlab, a subsidiary of NviroTek within the Senwes Group, is a specialised agricultural diagnostic laboratory focusing on nematode testing, soil health and plant disease analysis. The company provides laboratory testing and diagnostic services to assist farmers and agronomists in identifying potential threats to crops, improving soil health and supporting sustainable agricultural practices.

Nemlab is recruiting for a Laboratory Technician Level 1 at its Upington site. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to streamline the workflow of the Soil Health Support Centre, while also assisting with laboratory activities within the Plant Pathology Unit at Nemlab Klapmuts.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with sample receipt by carrying containers with samples to designated reception areas per sample type.
• Ensure samples are unpacked in correct areas and in time.
• Physical/Initial preparation of samples for analyses.
• Proper storage of bulk samples.
• Assist in other areas when time allows or as needed.
• Assist in preparation and testing of all disciplines throughout the laboratory achieved by assistance.
• Responsible to adhere to requirements: Health and safety, ISO and housekeeping.
