Head Guide

SUMMARY:
Luxury Lodge in Nambiti Private Game Reserve is looking for an experienced and confident Head Guide to join their team.

The successful candidate will lead the guiding team, deliver exceptional safari experiences and maintain high standards of guest safety, hosting and mentorship.

POSITION INFO:
Duties: Guiding & Guest Experience: Conduct informative and engaging game drives while prioritising guest safety. Share knowledge of wildlife, conservation and the reserve's natural environment. Host guests confidently and maintain excellent guest relations. Tailor safari experiences to guest interests while following reserve procedures. Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, support and mentor the guiding team. Coordinate guiding activities and maintain consistent service standards. Identify training needs and support the development of junior guides. Communicate effectively with lodge management and other departments. Equipment & Safety: Oversee vehicle readiness and guiding equipment checks. Report technical faults and coordinate maintenance requirements. Maintain safe firearm-handling practices and follow applicable operating procedures. Ensure guiding activities comply with lodge and reserve safety standards. Requirements: FGASA Level 2 (NQF 4). A valid First Aid qualification. A valid driver's licence and Professional Driving Permit (PDP). DEAT and NDT registration. Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH). Lead Trails Guide qualification would be advantageous. An advanced 4x4 driving qualification would be advantageous. At least 5 years' guiding experience on a Big 5 reserve. Strong technical skills and an analytical approach to problem-solving. Proven team leadership and mentorship skills. Excellent guest relations skills and confidence when hosting. Professional presentation and strong verbal communication skills. A mature, confident and dependable approach. Sober habits.
