The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified, authentic, competent individual to support the Provincial Lead Agency for Coastal Management with the implementation of functions, responsibilities and mandates pertaining to the facilitation and promotion of integrated coastal management.
Grade A: R 357 597 - R 395 352 per annum (OSD as prescribed)
Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

All shortlisted candidates shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.

Providing technical advice in support of the administration and implementation of NEM: ICMA and other applicable legislation, policies and strategies pertaining to coastal and estuary management; Supporting the administration and implementation of the NEM: ICMA and other applicable legislation, regulations, policies and strategies pertaining to coastal management; Support compliance and enforcement of NEM: ICMA; Support the implementation of the Provincial Estuarine Management Programme which gives effect to the NEM: ICM Act: National Estuarine Management Protocol; Supporting project, administrative and financial management.
An appropriate recognised 3-year B-Degree or Diploma (or equivalent qualification) in Environmental, Natural, Earth or Engineering Sciences; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.
Working knowledge of the following: Coastal and environmnetal management and ecological process; Relevant coastal, environmental and estuary legislation; Coastal, environmental and estuary management; Project management; Facilitation / stakeholder engagements. Skills in the following: Driving; Typing; Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Language skills; Information Technology; Report writing; Honesty and Integrity; Timeframes; Excellent communication and presentation skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
