Warehousing Asset Engineer

The Warehousing asset Manager  for supporting the effective operation, optimisation and continuous improvement of warehouse systems, processes and assets across the distribution centre network. 

A key focus of the role is the configuration and optimisation of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure that warehouse processes operate effectively and are continuously improved as operational requirements evolve. 

The role also provides technical oversight and support to Operational Engineers based at the main distribution centres, while supporting warehouse asset management, technical projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the network.

The role also provides technical oversight and support to Operational Engineers based at the main distribution centres, while supporting warehouse asset management, technical projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the network. 

What you'll do

• Take responsibility for the operational configuration, maintenance and continuous improvement of the WMS across the distribution centre network.
• Continuously review warehouse setups and system parameters to improve productivity, capacity utilisation, inventory accuracy and operational efficiency. 
• Assist the DC’s with product slotting, in order to optimize the operations as well as maintain compliance to fire and health and Safety standards. 
• Support new distribution centres, warehouse expansions, layout changes and major operational changes from a WMS configuration and process perspective. 
• Provide functional oversight, technical guidance and support to Operational Engineers. 
• Manage and optimise warehouse assets throughout their lifecycle, including specification, procurement, commissioning, operation, maintenance, refurbishment and replacement. 
• Assist with long-term asset replacement planning and capital budgeting. 
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve warehouse productivity, capacity, service levels, safety and operating costs. 
• Coordinate with operations, IT, procurement, finance, suppliers, OEMs and contractors during project implementation. 

What you bring

• 3 to 5 years' relevant engineering experience within warehousing, distribution, logistics, retail, FMCG, manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
• Experience in Industrial Engineering or Operational Engineering within a distribution centre or similar operational environment.
• Experience with capex preparation, financial analysis and business case development would be advantageous.
• Practical experience working with a Warehouse Management System, including configuration, process design, optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Exposure to large-scale WMS implementations or warehouse technology projects would be advantageous.
