Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Social Media Manager for their Head Office.The Social Media Manager is responsible for the execution and optimisation of social media campaigns that build brand awareness, engagement, and relevance for Dis-Chem. The role translates approved campaign strategies and content plans into platform-appropriate social executions, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines and alignment with integrated marketing campaigns, while actively managing community engagement and performance.

Minimum Requirements…
Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in social media, digital marketing, content management, community management, or platform marketing roles within retail, FMCG, healthcare, consumer-facing, or agency environments.
  • 5–8 years’ experience in a leadership or people management role within fast-paced content, digital, or multidisciplinary marketing environments.
  • Experience managing agencies, creators, influencers, or platform partners required
  • Experience in retail, healthcare, FMCG, or consumer-facing environments advantageous

Responsibilities

 Social media campaign execution

  • Execute social media campaigns aligned to the marketing calendar and campaign objectives
  • Publish, schedule, and manage content across all social media platforms
  • Ensure content is accurate, engaging, on-brand, platform-relevant, and aligned to campaign briefs, brand tone and guidelines

Content coordination and engagement

  • Collaborate with Creative, Content, and Campaign teams to deliver engaging social media assets
  • Support community engagement by monitoring comments, messages, and interactions in line with engagement guidelines.
  • Ensure timely delivery and consistency across all social touchpoints
  • Escalate customer issues or reputational risks in line with agreed governance processes

Performance monitoring and optimisation

  • Track and report on key social media performance metrics (reach, engagement, growth)
  • Identify opportunities to optimise content, formats, and posting schedules
  • Support campaign reviews and continuous improvement of social performance

  • Experience executing social media campaigns within retail, General Merchandise, or consumer brand environments.
  • Strong understanding of major social platforms, content formats, publishing tools, and engagement mechanics
  • Ability to translate campaign objectives into effective social content and executions
  • Strong execution focus with attention to detail and brand consistency
  • Good collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional marketing teams
  • Customer-centric mindset with awareness of brand, reputational, and compliance considerations
  • Ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously

  • Brand awareness & engagement: Growth in reach, engagement, and follower base
  • Execution quality: On-time, on-brand delivery of social media campaigns across all platforms 
  • Community management: Quality and timeliness of responses and issue escalation
  • Stakeholder satisfaction: Adherence to brand guidelines, engagement protocols and positive feedback from Marketing and Campaign teams. 
  • Team leadership & capability: High-performing social media team culture, content delivery quality, collaboration, and capability development.
