BTT currently has a vacancy for a Shunter to join the Richards Bay Operations Team
Main Purpose of the Job:
To ensure safe and efficient bulk shunting operations on a shift basis by correctly switching points, positioning blades and positioning of rail tankers in designated stations for loading and offloading purposes
Rail line inspections and reporting of any deviations
Make effective decisions during shunting activities to avoid delays and incidents
Correctly switch rail points and position blades to direct tankers to appropriate loading/offloading bays
Ensure good housekeeping/cleanliness of shunting yard
Ensure compliance with rail safety regulations during all shunting and tanker placement activities
Carry out regular shunting checks as per SOPs/WIs
Report all deviations/faults on rail lines
Weigh in and out of rail tankers and record weights on SAP
Shunting of rail tankers from and to siding and within the plant
Placing and positioning of rail tankers in correct loading/offloading bays
Inspect and report all deviations/faults on rail tankers
Placing of dispatch cards on rail tankers
Liaise with Rail supervisor on all shunting operations
Matric with Mathematics and Science
Computer Literate: basic computer skills
2 years’ experience in plant operations in a chemical industry
2 years’ experience in shunting
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
