Service Technician

SUMMARY:
My client in the chemical manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Service Technician to join their team in Cape Town.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, programming, maintaining and repairing chemical dosing equipment and cleaning systems at various customer sites. This is a field-based position requiring regular travel to customers, excellent troubleshooting abilities and a strong commitment to customer service.

POSITION INFO:
Install, programme, maintain and repair electronic chemical dosing equipment. Conduct technical installations and maintenance on commercial laundry machines, dishwashers, glass washers and crate washers. Install soap dispensers and chemical dosing systems for kitchen, laundry, food processing and housekeeping environments. Attend to customer sites for installations, preventative maintenance and breakdown call-outs. Troubleshoot equipment faults and provide technical support and emergency after-hours assistance when required. Train customer staff on the correct use of equipment, chemical products and cleaning systems. Build and maintain professional relationships with key customer contacts. Identify customer requirements and recommend suitable products and technical solutions. Complete service reports, weekly technical reports and other required administrative documentation. Provide feedback to management regarding customer needs, competitor products and developments in the field. Assist with customer deliveries when required. Manage stock and conduct stocktakes where necessary. Maintain company branding and merchandising at customer sites. Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards. Attend sales meetings and participate in ongoing product and technical training. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 / Matric. A technical qualification in Electrical studies. Minimum of 3 years' experience in the electrical field. Valid driver's licence and reliable transport. Intermediate computer literacy, particularly MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Good written and verbal communication skills. Advantageous Experience Installation and maintenance of laundry chemical dosing equipment. Programming of commercial laundry machines. Installation of commercial dishwashing machines and chemical dosing units. Maintenance and repair of industrial dishwashing machines. Skills and Personal Attributes Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Excellent planning, coordination and organisational skills. Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites. Additional Information The position is based from the company's offices in Killarney Gardens, Cape Town. The successful candidate will travel to various customer sites and will not be permanently stationed at one client location. A company vehicle will be provided for work purposes.
