Senior Systems Analyst – Payments & DebiCheck

• We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Analyst to join a leading banking environment in Sandton. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing, designing and documenting complex systems and payment solutions, with specific emphasis on Payments, DebiCheck and related banking transaction processes.
• The role requires someone who can bridge the gap between business requirements and technical delivery, working closely with business stakeholders, developers, architects, testers and other technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical system requirements.
• Perform systems analysis across complex banking and payment environments.
• Analyse existing systems, interfaces, processes and data flows and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Produce detailed Functional Specifications, System Requirements Specifications and Technical/System Analysis documentation.
• Analyse and document payment flows, transaction processing and integration points.
• Work extensively with DebiCheck processes, mandates, collections and payment transactions.
• Analyse payment messages, interfaces and integrations between internal banking systems and external payment platforms.
• Work with APIs, services, databases and messaging technologies to understand end-to-end transaction flows.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects and Technical Leads to ensure proposed solutions align with enterprise architecture.
• Engage with Business Analysts and Product Owners to clarify requirements and translate them into system-level solutions.
• Conduct impact assessments for system changes and enhancements.
• Investigate production issues and perform root-cause analysis across applications, integrations and databases.
• Support developers and testers by providing detailed system and functional requirements.
• Define and document system interfaces, data mappings, business rules and processing logic.
• Participate in solution design, technical walkthroughs, sprint planning and refinement sessions.
• Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing and defect resolution.
• Ensure solutions meet banking, security, compliance and operational requirements.
• Produce process flows, sequence diagrams, data-flow diagrams and other relevant technical documentation.

Essential Experience & Skills

• 5+ years' experience as a Systems Analyst / Senior Systems Analyst within a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong Payments experience is essential.
• Hands-on DebiCheck experience is essential.
• Strong understanding of DebiCheck mandates, collections and payment processing.
• Experience with South African payment systems and the broader Payments ecosystem.
• Understanding of payment transaction lifecycles and payment processing workflows.
• Experience analysing system integrations and APIs.
• Strong understanding of REST/SOAP APIs, web services and integration patterns.
• Experience working with databases and SQL.
• Ability to analyse data and troubleshoot transaction-related issues.
• Experience with message formats, payment messages and data mappings.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
• Experience working with Jira, Confluence and/or similar delivery tools.
• Strong documentation and technical specification skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder-management abilities.
