Professional Nurse General Grade 1-3

Requirements:

• Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• OR - A 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• OR - A 3-year Diploma in General Nursing (R171) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a General Nurse. Registration with a Professional Council: Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse or General Nurse. Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nursing.

Experience:

• Grade 1: None after registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Current registration with SANC (2026/2027). Proof of current Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse for 2026

• Ability to function with multidisciplinary team. Knowledge and understanding of National Core Standards and Ideal Clinic realization program. Strong management and leadership skills. Computer literacy.

Duties:

• To ensure a comprehensive nursing treatment and care services in delivered to patients in a cost effective and equitable manner. Ensure compliance to professional and ethical practice.
• Coordination of optimal, holistic specialized nursing care provided within set standards and professional/ legal framework. Provision of effective training and research. Maintain professional growth/legal standards and self-development. Manage effectively the utilization and supervision.
• Provide holistic nursing care patients in a specialty unit, in a cost effective, efficient and equitable manner. Ensure compliance to National Core Standards and ten-point plan. Management of assets. Identify, manage and control risks. Data management and report writing.
