Principal Piping Engineer – Mining & EPCM

Job Description

• We are seeking an experienced Principal Piping Engineer to provide technical leadership on a large-scale mining project. This is a fixed-term contract opportunity based in Johannesburg, with occasional site travel fully covered by the company.

Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (2+ years)

Qualifications:

• Essential: BSc, BEng, or BTech in Mechanical Engineering (Piping emphasis)
• Essential: Trained in leadership and project execution
• Essential: Actively licensed with ECSA or equivalent where required by law
• Desirable: Training in risk management or quality

Requirements:

• 15+ years of relevant piping engineering experience
• Mining project experience (mandatory)
• EPCM experience (mandatory)
• Experience on mining projects involving piping systems for PGM processing or similar harsh-duty applications
• Strong knowledge of regulations, codes, and manufacturing standards

Responsibilities:

• Serve as technical SME on all piping engineering matters
• Ensure adherence to engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications
• Support standardization of piping specifications, drawings, and templates
• Participate in bid clarifications, evaluations, and vendor information review
• Review and authorize work done by direct reports
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure project success
