Preventative Maintenance Assistant Somerset West Salary: R6,000 per month Working Hours: Monday – Friday | 08:00 – 17:00 RecruitSmith is recruiting a Preventative Maintenance Assistant for a well-established retirement village in Somerset West. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on maintenance experience who takes pride in keeping buildings and facilities in excellent condition. You'll play an important role in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for residents. Key Responsibilities Carry out preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities. Perform painting, touch-ups, and ceiling repairs as required. Complete basic wood repairs and maintenance. Report damages and maintenance issues promptly. Assist with planned and ad-hoc maintenance tasks. Complete maintenance job cards and provide feedback to the Estate Manager. Maintain and care for tools and equipment. Ensure all work is completed to a high standard. Work closely with the Facilities and Maintenance teams. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 Previous general maintenance or handyman experience Basic literacy skills Able to communicate in English and Afrikaans Physically fit and able to perform manual work Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy Advantageous 1–2 years' maintenance experience Experience in property, retirement villages, hospitality, or facilities maintenance Personal Attributes Strong work ethic Attention to detail Good problem-solving skills Respectful and compassionate towards the elderly Team player with a positive attitude What We Offer Permanent position Monday to Friday working hours Stable working environment Opportunity to work within a respected retirement village Ensure all work is completed to a high standard.
