- The purpose of this position is to manage and coordinate the maintenance planning function at the production plant, ensuring effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of preventative and corrective maintenance activities to optimise equipment availability, minimise downtime, and support safe and efficient production operations.
Requirements
- National Diploma or Trade Tested in Mech/Electrical/Electro-mechanical
- 3 - 5 years relevant experience in applying job related concepts, techniques and processes at the required level in a food manufacturing plant - FMCG
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in the Maintenance environment
- Business English: Fluent
- Computer literacy in Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and be able to familiarise themselves with EAM in use.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Ownership of EAM systems and assets
- Ensure all assets are correctly allocated within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Maintain the asset register, equipment hierarchy and maintenance task lists in the CMMS.
- Analyse failure history and recommend changes to maintenance frequencies and strategies.
- Take part in root cause analysis for repeat or high-cost failures.
- Apply the correct General Ledger Account Codes to each asset.
- Obtain new Stock numbers and put all the required Stock into Stores with relative Keywords
- Label Machine ID's and D-Bit numbers on assets as per the asset register
Maintenance planning and scheduling
- Develop and maintain the planned (preventive and predictive) maintenance programme for all assets.
- Build weekly and monthly maintenance schedules and agree shutdown windows with operations.
- Plan major shutdowns, overhauls and projects, including critical path, resources and contractor inputs.
- Balance workload against available artisan hours and adjust for breakdowns and priorities.
- Carry out weekly planning meetings with maintenance and production present
Work order management
- Create, prioritise and issue work orders in the CMMS.
- Prepare job packs: task steps, spares, special tools, drawings, permits and safety requirements.
- Follow up on open work orders, capture completion feedback and close them out accurately.
- Keep the maintenance backlog current, prioritised and within target.
Spares, materials and contractors
- Support maintenance department by ensuring parts needed for planned work arrive on time in full.
- Work with stores to set minimum and maximum stock levels for critical spares.
- Coordinate contractor schedules, scopes and site access for outsourced work.
Compile reports and ad-hoc activities
- Report weekly and monthly on schedule compliance, backlog, availability and maintenance cost.
- Report on monthly, quarterly and annual pareto analysis and assist in driving equipment reliability.
- Track maintenance spend against budget and flag variances early.
- Ensure planned work meets the Occupational Health and Safety Act, statutory inspection schedules and site safety rules.
- Keep records ready for internal and external audits (for example ISO 9001, ISO 55001).
- Help with the maintenanceindex measurements
- Update technical library for completeness and controls
