Maintenance Technician / Millwright - Somerset West
Job Description
- Our client is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician / Millwright to join their team in Somerset West, Cape Town. Applicants should have a Trade-tested Millwright qualification, 3–5 years’ maintenance experience within an FMCG, food processing, or packaging environment, strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities, and experience with automated systems, 3-phase motors, variable speed drives, pneumatic systems, and industrial sensors. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work rotational shifts and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Ensure production equipment reliability.
- Execute preventative maintenance activities.
- Provide support for utilities and infrastructure.
- Manage maintenance systems and stores control.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety requirements.
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Attend to all breakdowns, as well as minor maintenance activities, within the targeted turnaround period.
- Maintain maintenance costs within budget.
- Achieve maintenance schedule attainment targets.

- Shift work
Requirements
- Trade-tested Millwright.
- 3–5 years’ maintenance experience, preferably within an FMCG, food processing, or packaging environment.
- Experience working with automated production equipment.
- Strong fault-finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience working with:
- 3-phase motors.
- Variable speed drives (VSDs).
- Pneumatic systems.
- Industrial sensors.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and machine schematics.
- Must be able to work rotational shifts and weekends.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities.
- Experience within an FMCG food processing and packaging environment.
- Experience working in an automated manufacturing environment.
