Life & Pensions Insurance Accountant

SUMMARY:
We are seeking experienced Life & Pensions Insurance Accountants to join a UK-based insurance finance team, working remotely from South Africa. The successful candidates will be responsible for managing and improving the flow of financial data from policy administration systems into the General Ledger (GL), ensuring accurate accounting, reconciliations and financial reporting.

The role requires strong Life & Pensions insurance accounting knowledge, experience with policy administration systems such as TCS BaNCS or Bravura Sonata, and an understanding of GL processes. Candidates will also support finance system improvements, reconciliations, testing and process optimisation.
We are recruiting for both Senior Leads and Experienced Accountants.

POSITION INFO:
Purpose To manage, maintain and improve the flow of financial data from Life & Pensions policy administration systems into the General Ledger (GL). The role focuses on ensuring accurate accounting entries, effective reconciliations, strong financial controls and continuous improvement of accounting processes. Key Responsibilities: Manage the flow of financial data from policy administration systems into the General Ledger. Maintain accounting rules, posting configurations and GL account mappings. Perform reconciliations across policy, premium, claims, commission, cash and fund transactions. Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies by identifying root causes. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data and accounting entries. Support month-end reporting and financial close processes. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and reconciliations. Support finance system changes, implementations, testing and process improvements. Work closely with Finance, IT and Operations teams to resolve accounting and system-related issues. Maintain accounting documentation, process flows and reconciliation reports. Additional duties for Senior Leads: Lead and provide technical guidance to accounting teams. Review complex reconciliations and accounting processes. Oversee finance change initiatives and system improvements. Manage stakeholder relationships and ensure timely delivery of project objectives. Minimum Requirements : Qualified accountant (CA(SA), ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience, with life and pensions insurance experience Experience of TCS BaNCS or Bravura Sonata is highly preferred; other life policy admin systems will be considered A clear understanding of how policy, premium, claims, commission and fund transactions flow from the policy admin system into the GL Oracle GL experience Strong reconciliation skills across policy, cash and unit/fund data, fixing root causes rather than clearing items Finance change experience Nice to have: accounting hubs or sub-ledgers, data platforms and SQL, unit-linked or with-profits accounting
