SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking an experienced Factory Foreman to oversee the Parts Finishing Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating production activities, supervising employees, maintaining quality standards and ensuring production targets are achieved.
Job Purpose:
To manage and coordinate the Parts Finishing Department, including conventional machining, material preparation and finishing processes, while ensuring efficient production, quality workmanship and adherence to company policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS Minimum education (essential): National Senior Certificate Minimum applicable experience (years): 3-5 years' proven experience in a similar role. Required nature of experience: Operating conventional milling and turning machines. Interpreting engineering drawings. Quality management and production coordination. Supervising employees and managing workflow. Maintaining production equipment and machinery. Skills and Knowledge (essential): Engineering drawing interpretation. Use of measurement equipment. Leadership and communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and time management. Logical thinking and problem-solving. Planning, adaptability and organisational skills. Understanding of quality standards and health and safety regulations. Excellent fine motor skills. Computer literacy. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND OBJECTIVES Supervision, Coordination & Leadership Oversee and coordinate all employees and activities within the Parts Finishing Department. Plan workflow, allocate resources and ensure production targets and deadlines are met. Liaise with other foremen and the Production Manager regarding departmental objectives and requirements. Ensure machinery is operated correctly and company policies and procedures are followed. Mentor and train employees and assist with finishing processes when required. Maintenance Compile, maintain and implement preventative maintenance schedules for factory machinery and equipment. Coordinate maintenance requirements with management, foremen and operators. Conduct scheduled and ad hoc maintenance as required. Minimise production downtime caused by machinery breakdowns. Contribute to maintenance planning and budgeting. Quality Assurance Inspect incoming products for accuracy and completeness. Monitor finishing processes to ensure compliance with client specifications. Conduct regular quality control checks throughout production. Identify and resolve quality issues promptly. Enforce quality standards and health and safety precautions. Reporting Complete Work Orders and production reports accurately and timeously. Maintain detailed records to ensure quality control and traceability. Monitor and report on production progress. Communicate potential problems to relevant departments and management. Ensure required production documentation is maintained. Housekeeping, General & Ad Hoc Duties Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area. Ensure machinery, tools and shared workspaces are kept clean and accessible. Dispose of waste and recycle materials according to company policies. Maintain professional relationships and treat colleagues, customers and suppliers respectfully. Train new employees on machinery and operating procedures and assist with other operational duties as required.
