Electrical Clerk of Works - Consulting Industry

RPO Recruitment's client, an established engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Clerk of Works to oversee electrical construction activities on a municipal infrastructure upgrade project in Cape Town.

This is a site-based, contract position linked to the duration of the project and is not a permanent appointment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise electrical construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications and standards.
• Oversee on-site quality control, workmanship and installation standards.
• Monitor contractor performance and coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including the municipal electricity department.
• Verify material quantities, completed work and contractor claims.
• Identify defects, investigate technical issues and follow up on corrective work.
• Conduct site inspections and witness testing to confirm compliance and quality.
• Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, inspection findings and photographic evidence.
• Attend site and technical meetings, report on progress and escalate issues where necessary.

• Relevant higher education qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installations.
• At least 15 years’ relevant industry experience.
• Extensive practical experience in municipal street lighting and electrical reticulation, including high-, medium- and low-voltage systems.
• Sound knowledge of construction site operations, health and safety requirements and applicable electrical standards.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Available to commence duties immediately.
• Additional health and safety training and registration as an Authorised Person will be advantageous.
