Job Description

• A leading FMCG company based in Randfontein, Johannesburg, is seeking to appoint a qualified Electrical and Instrumentation Assistant Foreman.

JOB PURPOSE:

• To ensure effective maintenance, functionality and continuous improvement of instrumentation, electrical, and automation equipment towards plant availability and reliability, in a safe and cost effective way.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instrumentation and Electrical Installation and Maintenance

• Monitor performance, functionality and output of instrumentation equipment
• Carry out installations, defined checks, trouble shooting, required testing, repairs and modifications to instrumentation and electronics equipment in accordance with specified instructions.
• Maintain and improve Existing PLC, SCADA systems and Instrumentation networks (hardware and software) and perform changes/modification as required.
• Develop programmes for new equipment and plants.
• Conduct trend analysis and execute PID tuning or any other required correctiveaction
• Improve and / or automate all old manual processes
• Carry out planned and autonomous maintenance, to reduce unplanned maintenance and optimize availability.
• Calibrate instruments, repair and maintain control gear and associated equipment to ensure operation within set standards.

Resource Control

• Ensure spares procurement and maintenance of defined minimum stock levels, ensuring availability of critical spares for all process control equipment.
• Conduct asset care activities as required by the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) systems and procedures, including accurate and timeous feedback and documentation to all stakeholders.

Projects Execution

• Provide input in scoping and commissioning of related projects
• Ensure proper documentation of changes/modifications (e.g. but not limited to PLC software, SCADA software, network configuration, and wiring diagrams etc.)

Supervision

• Communicate performance expectations and discipline requirements to team members and manage team in a way that ensures productivity and compliance.
• Inform team members of any changes that affect them, timeously (policies, procedures, required reports etc)
• Ensure team members follow best practices, written SOPs or any other procedures in equipment fault finding, repairs, installations etc
• Train and develop team members to ensure that they are competent in their tasks.

Administration

• Conduct data logging, trending, data-base updates, system backups for reporting and record keeping
• Ensure safe keeping of all records, and accessibility to relevant stakeholders at all times.

QUALIFYING ATTRIBUTES:

Qualifications:

• N6 qualification with a Trade Certificate in Instrumentation or Electrical
• Recognised Siemens certification an added advantage
• Association with a recognized professional body (Society for Automation Instrumentation Mechatronics/Measurement and Control (SAIMC), Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) etc.) is an added advantage

Experience:

• 5 years' experience in instrumentation and/or electrical, 1 of which in a supervisory or coordinating role.
• Working experience with industrial communication methodologies (RS-232, ASI, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet, Devicenet, HART).
• Working experience with industrial Automation (Siemens PLCs, Allen Bradley PLCs, GE PLCs etc)

Knowledge:

• Thorough knowledge of Production principles and process flow, Knowledge of PLCs (Siemens S7, Allen Bradley, GE, Beckhoff DCS systems etc.), Operator interfaces (HMI), ACDC drives and SCADA networks and communication protocols, a good grasp of the electrical, electronics and instrumentation basic theory and calculations, basic operation of plant equipment,
• Well versed with Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety, Environment, Risk, Maintenance, Disciplinary Policy & Procedure
