One of South Africa's Banking Giants is looking for a Data Solutions Analyst to join their team.

POSITION INFO:
Why this role exists The Client Domain data landscape is growing in complexity - regulatory requirements are increasing, data quality demands are rising and the volume of remediation and compliance initiatives is accelerating. This role exists to close the gap between business intent and technical delivery. The Senior Data Solutions Analyst designs and delivers enterprise-grade data solutions that solve complex business problems, while embedding governance, controls and scalability from the ground up. This goes beyond reporting and analysis - the role shapes how data flows, how it is validated and how it is used across the organisation. The role serves as a bridge between business, operations, Client Domain and technology teams - supporting root cause identification, solution design, remediation initiatives and the translation of business requirements into technical outcomes. Specifically, the role exists to: Support ongoing data quality and remediation initiatives Drive stop-the-bleed and root cause resolution activities Improve alignment between business requirements and technology delivery Reduce dependency on technical teams for requirements clarification and solution design What you'll do This role operates across two dimensions: 70% - Data Solutions Analyst Gather and translate business requirements into technical solution designs Design data flows, data models and enterprise data solutions Work across Data Engineers, Architects, Modellers and business stakeholders Own testing, validation and data quality assurance Embed governance, metadata, lineage and quality controls into every solution Influence both business and technical direction 30% - Data Analyst Apply SQL proficiency to support root cause analysis and data profiling Identify trends, patterns and data quality issues Make data accessible and meaningful to stakeholders - transforming it into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making and drive business performance1 Support strategic decision-making with clear reporting and visualisation In practice, you'll: Define how a Client Data Standards platform should work Design data flows feeding data quality monitoring Translate compliance requirements into data controls Define remediation solution requirements - and work with engineers to build them Set testing and sign-off criteria Govern data definitions and metrics across the organisation What sets you apart The team is not just looking for technical skills. Five qualities are non-negotiable: Intellectual Curiosity - You ask \"why\" repeatedly and dig beyond surface-level symptoms Delivery Focus - You drive solutions to completion and balance perfection with pragmatism Stakeholder Acumen - You navigate competing priorities and build consensus Technical Depth - You understand data architecture and can discuss solution design with engineers Compliance Mindset - You think about controls, auditability and risk mitigation Education (Minimum) Honours Degree in Information Technology - Computer Science or Information Technology Knowledge and Experience Minimum: At least 8 years of experience in data analysis or data solutions, with a significant portion in financial services or banking 8-10+ years of experience translating business needs into technical solutions, with deep expertise in data architecture (including warehousing and Lakehouse), SQL, data modeling, ETL, and data analysis-combined with strong cross-functional collaboration and leadership in delivering high-quality, cloud-based data solutions. Including at least 5 years of leadership and mentoring experience, including guiding Communities of Practice, conducting industry research, and promoting continuous learning Proven track record leading large-scale data analysis or data solutions projects and driving measurable business impact Mastery of advanced data analysis tools - SQL, Python, R, Tableau and Power BI Experience with machine learning algorithms and their application in predictive analytics Aligning data solutions with business strategy and goals Providing data-driven recommendations to senior management and influencing decision-making Leading and mentoring less experienced analysts and data teams - knowledge sharing and training Overseeing adherence to industry regulations and compliance requirements in the analytics space Market analysis and understanding of economic factors affecting the business Knowledge Expert mastery in SQL - query optimisation, database design and ETL processes Expertise in designing and implementing complex dashboards and visualisations Machine learning algorithms and their application in predictive analytics Advanced programming skills in Python or R - including machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow) Proficiency in advanced statistical modelling techniques and their application in financial analysis Expertise in advanced predictive analytics techniques and their application in financial services Ability to derive strategic insights from data and align them with business goals Advanced knowledge of risk management techniques and their application in financial analysis4 Data governance frameworks - metadata management, data lineage and quality controls Requirements engineering and solution design documentation Cross functional facilitation Leading a Community of Practice Strategic planning and oversight of complex data projects Research and best practice Setting standards Driving innovation and change Leading analysis of large and complex projects including establishing new components, data migration and measuring success Mentorship Should you not receive a response from us within one week of your application, your application has unfortunately not been successful.
