Head of Commercial & Strategic Partnerships
Industry: Energy / Renewable Energy

Build a Profitable Business. Create Meaningful Social Impact.

An exciting opportunity exists for an entrepreneurial, commercially astute leader to join an established and profitable social enterprise operating in the energy and electrification sector.
The organisation is focused on expanding access to affordable, reliable electricity for underserved communities. This role offers the opportunity to combine commercial leadership and sustainable business growth with a genuine social purpose.
We are seeking a hands-on individual who can turn strategy into execution, build scalable commercial systems and drive the expansion of a proven business model.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Design, implement and manage the end-to-end business-to-consumer (B2C) commercial model, from community development and customer acquisition through to onboarding, installation, customer support and payment collection. Develop and refine pricing structures, customer assessment processes, payment models and commercial procedures. Establish and implement systems, processes and reporting tools to support a scalable and repeatable business model. Monitor commercial performance, profitability, customer payment behaviour, collections, arrears and working capital. Build and manage a pipeline of communities, local sales representatives and strategic delivery partners. Work closely with technology, operations, finance, legal and other internal teams to translate commercial requirements into practical solutions. Develop documented processes and operational playbooks to support expansion into new communities, partnerships and geographical markets. Build and develop a lean commercial team, initially focusing on marketing and sales support. Support the development of additional business opportunities through corporate partnerships, institutional projects and grant-funded initiatives. Work closely with the executive team to drive commercial objectives, improve performance and deliver measurable results. Minimum Requirements Proven experience in a senior commercial, business development, general management or commercial operations role. Demonstrated experience building, launching or scaling a new business model, product, service or distribution network. Strong commercial and financial acumen, including pricing, profitability, cash flow and performance management. Experience with consumer finance, instalment-based payment models, credit risk, collections or similar commercial environments would be advantageous. Proven ability to establish practical systems, processes and reporting structures in a growing or entrepreneurial business. Experience working cross-functionally with operational, financial, technical and other business teams. Strong execution, organisational and problem-solving capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to take ownership and deliver results. Experience building, developing and leading teams. Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with communities, business partners and senior stakeholders. Ideal Industry Background Candidates from the following sectors will be considered: Renewable energy, solar and off-grid electrification. Consumer finance, microfinance, asset finance and rent-to-own. Pay-as-you-go business models. Telecommunications and last-mile distribution. Development finance and impact-driven businesses. Emerging-market technology and businesses focused on expanding access to essential services. Direct renewable energy experience is beneficial but not essential. A proven ability to design, implement and scale a commercially sustainable business model is key. The Ideal Candidate You are entrepreneurial, commercially driven and comfortable operating in an environment where you are required to both develop strategy and execute it personally. You understand that successful businesses require financial discipline, robust systems and measurable outcomes. Equally, you appreciate the importance of working respectfully with underserved communities and are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to meaningful social impact. You can balance commercial performance with purpose, take ownership of challenges and build practical solutions that support sustainable growth. If you are passionate about building businesses that are both commercially successful and socially impactful, we invite you to apply.
