Backup and Restore Systems Administrator

Job purpose

• To implement, monitor, maintain and support backup and recovery systems in order to ensure the availability, integrity and recoverability of organisational data

Appointment requirements

• Grade 12

The following relevant technical knowledge will be an added advantage:

• Experience with backup solutions such as Veeam Backup and Replication, Veritas NetBackup, Commvault or Microsoft Azure Backup; knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration; familiarity with virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V
• At least one to two years’ experience in ICT, supporting enterprise backup and recovery environments
• Computer literacy
• Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

• Perform routine backup operations, verify backup success, execute data restoration requests and assist with disaster recovery activities while ensuring compliance with organisational policies, service-level agreements and data protection standards
