POSITION INFO:
Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for fixed assets, accounting and financial controls ? My client is looking for an organised and analytical Asset Controller to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1 - 2 years' experience in a similar environment who is looking to grow their expertise in fixed asset management, PPE accounting and financial reporting. Key Responsibilities: Maintain the fixed asset tracking system, ensuring all asset information is accurate, complete and consistently captured. Verify newly acquired assets against delivery notes and purchase orders. Capture new assets using the correct cost, asset category, location and depreciation rate. Maintain all relevant supporting documentation and ensure a complete audit trail. Reconcile the Fixed Asset Register to the General Ledger across all group entities. Prepare monthly depreciation schedules and reconcile asset movements to management accounts. Review PPE and capital expenditure postings to ensure assets are correctly capitalised and classified. Monitor the condition of assets and identify assets requiring impairment or write-off consideration. Update asset locations when assets are relocated or transferred. Conduct regular site walkthroughs, bi-annual asset counts and leasehold improvement inspections. Investigate and follow up on missing, damaged, relocated or untagged assets. Manage asset tagging, including tagging new assets and replacing damaged or illegible tags. Review supporting documentation for asset disposals, obtain the required approvals and ensure appropriate records are maintained. Prepare monthly asset addition reports and contribute to PPE commentary and cash flow breakdowns for management accounts. Prepare PPE forecasts to support the budgeting process. Ensure that PPE controls and processes are properly implemented and consistently adhered to. Assist with ad hoc administrative and finance-related duties as required by management. Job Experience and Skills Required: Matric \/ Grade 12 . A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related field , or currently studying towards a commerce qualification. 1 - 2 years' experience in a similar fixed asset \/ asset management environment. Experience working with an asset management system , preferably Assetzure, will be advantageous. Good computer literacy, particularly MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint . Apply now!
