Accountant

About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will focus on managing financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position is critical in supporting the overall financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with accounting principles and regulations.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.
- Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow to ensure effective financial operations.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
- Conduct audits and ensure compliance with financial policies and relevant legislation.
- Liaise with external auditors and provide necessary documentation to support audit processes.
- Monitor financial performance and provide insights to improve operational efficiencies.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices to inform financial strategies.

Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience in accounting or financial management.
- Proficient in accounting software, such as Pastel or SAGE, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation, such as CA(SA) or CIMA.
- Experience with tax compliance and financial analysis.
- Familiarity with ERP systems or advanced accounting software solutions.
- Previous experience in a similar role within [specific industry, if relevant].
