Our organisation is proud to participate in the YES4Youth Initiative, a national programme designed to provide young South Africans with valuable work experience and a pathway to long-term employment.

We are recruiting motivated and committed youth to join our 12-month placement programme, commencing on 1 November 2026.

What You Will Experience

This opportunity will give you practical, hands-on exposure in a hatchery. You will rotate through different areas of the operation and learn how poultry is managed. 

Your experience will include:

• Working directly with chickens and learning about daily hatchery operations.
• Assisting with the care, handling and monitoring of poultry.
• Gaining exposure to hatchery operations and the process of producing day-old chicks.
• Learning about egg setting, transfer, hatching and chick handling.
• Assisting with cleaning, hygiene and general hatchery duties.
• Learning about egg handling and quality.
• Assisting with cleaning, hygiene and general hatchery duties.
• Learning about equipment and how it is used in the hatchery environment.
• Following strict biosecurity, health and safety procedures at all times.
• Showering in and out of the facilities multiple times a day as part of the company's biosecurity requirements.
• Working in an environment where you will be around chickens every day — you must be comfortable handling and working around poultry.
• Working as part of a team and learning from experienced hatchery employees.

This is a hands-on opportunity — it is not an office-based position. Candidates must be comfortable working with chickens, following strict biosecurity procedures and working in a practical agricultural environment.

To be eligible for final selection, shortlisted candidates must pass an entry medical examination and test negative for salmonella

• Matric / Grade 12
• Tertiary Qualification would be advantageous
• South African citizen
• 18-28 years old
• Currently unemployed
• Must not have previously participated in a YES4Youth programme
• Willing to commit to a full 12-month work experience placement
