SUMMARY:
WORKSHOP MANAGER

The Workshop Manager is responsible for the overall management, coordination and performance of the Workshop and vehicle maintenance function. The position is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of company-owned trucks, light vehicles, forklifts, reach stackers, side lifters, heavy equipment, mobile plant and associated assets.
 
The role is responsible for job allocation and workflow within the workshop, including preventative maintenance scheduling, breakdown response, labour allocation, repairs, servicing and asset management. The Workshop Manager will coordinate internal resources and liaise with Business Unit Managers, suppliers and external service providers to ensure vehicle maintenance and repairs are completed safely, efficiently, on time and to the required quality standard.
 
The Workshop Manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining effective preventative maintenance programs, monitoring fleet availability and reliability, controlling workshop expenditure and ensuring all activities comply with safety, environmental, operational and compliance requirements.

POSITION INFO:
Essential Skills and Experience Heavy forklift, reach stacker and side lifter maintenance Extensive experience in the maintenance of trucks, heavy vehicles, lifting Previous experience working and living overseas Exposure to the transport, logistics or international freight Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or a related field. Minimum 10 years' experience in workshop management, preferably within the transport, logistics or heavy equipment industry. Demonstrated experience managing a multi-skilled workshop Extensive knowledge of mechanical faults, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, servicing and general repairs. Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance management Demonstrated experience in budgeting and cost Strong knowledge of parts procurement and inventory Knowledge of warranties and manufacturer service Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal Strong leadership and people-management High level of organisational and administrative Ability to work under pressure and prioritise competing operational Computer literate with a solid understanding of Microsoft Office Strong commitment to workplace health and
