Weighbridge Controller

The Role (or your chance to tip the scales in our favour)

As our Weighbridge Controller at our Centurion site, you’ll be the control point for every truck that rolls in with raw materials and every truck that rolls out with finished products. You’ll weigh them in, weigh them out, check they’re fit for the road, and make sure the paperwork tells exactly the same story as the scale.

Reporting to the Administrative Assistant in our Production Dry team, you’ll keep stakeholders in the loop, the ERP system up to date and the filing in good order — because a load isn’t finished until the admin is.

What you’ll be doing (besides being brilliant)

Weighbridge Operation

• Flag any major weight variances to your Line Manager and get approval before stock is received
• Direct trucks to the right off-loading point and let internal stakeholders know what’s on its way
• Weigh trucks out after off-loading and capture the weight on the Weighbridge Ticket
• Weigh trucks in for loading and complete the Vehicle Inspection Checklist — torn covers don’t travel with our finished goods, so you’ll alert the relevant Supervisor to any delay until repairs are done
• Direct trucks to the correct loading area, weigh them once loaded and print the Weighbridge Slip for processing
• Keep the relevant stakeholders informed on all things weighbridge

Weighbridge Administration

• Complete all the admin for inbound and outbound vehicle control — delivery notes, weighbridge slips and the supporting documents needed to pay for raw materials received
• Scan and send the dispatch documents for each load to the receiving depots
• Hand original documentation to the Stock Admin Assistant for vetting and processing
• Update the ERP system, moving outbound finished products to Shipped status
• Keep all filing up to date (yes, all of it)
• Assist with the replenishment of diesel after hours

Hygiene, Housekeeping & Health and Safety

• Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Food Safety (FSSC 22000) standards
• Identify hazards, put corrective and preventative measures in place, and report risks to Management
• Keep to personal hygiene standards and maintain a clean, tidy work area at all times
• Lend a hand with cleaning across areas during shutdown and maintenance

What you’ll need to bring

• Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
• 1–2 years’ experience in the receiving and dispatch of bulk goods
• An understanding of weighbridge operations — advantageous
• Knowledge of inbound and outbound vehicle control and of different raw materials
• An understanding of food safety standards when transporting stock
• Computer literacy, including confidence updating an ERP system

A note on the fine print: this role works shifts of up to 12 hours, including weekends, public holidays, night shifts and overtime. From time to time you may be asked to take on tasks beyond the day-to-day as operational needs require, occasionally without delay and outside normal hours. We’ll always keep it fair.
