SUMMARY:
Our Prospecton based, chemical blending and distribution client requires a warehouse supervisor who will be responsible for the management of the warehouse and storage operations, ensuring that raw materials, packaging materials and finished products are received, stored, handled, picked and dispatched safely, accurately and efficiently.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities: Warehouse Operations Manage the day-to-day activities of the warehouse. Supervise the receiving, storage, picking, checking, loading and dispatch of products. Allocate work to warehouse personnel according to daily operational requirements. Ensure warehouse activities are completed efficiently and according to planned schedules. Ensure products are stored in the correct locations and under appropriate conditions. Maintain an organised and efficient warehouse layout. Ensure stock is readily accessible and clearly identifiable. Monitor warehouse capacity and highlight potential space constraints. Coordinate movement of stock between storage locations where required. Receiving & Inbound Materials Coordinate the receiving of raw materials, packaging and other incoming goods. Verify deliveries against purchase orders, delivery notes and relevant documentation. Ensure quantities and product identification are checked upon receipt. Coordinate with the Operations Planner regarding expected deliveries. Ensure incoming materials are directed to the correct storage location. Identify and report damaged, incorrect or short-delivered materials. Ensure discrepancies are recorded and escalated promptly. Coordinate with Quality and the Lab where incoming materials require inspection, sampling or release before use. Coordinate efficient management of tanker and bulk-material receiving activities where applicable. Finished Goods & Product Storage Ensure finished products are received into the warehouse correctly after production. Maintain accurate identification and location of finished products. Ensure products are stored according to company procedures and applicable safety requirements. Monitor stock rotation and apply appropriate FIFO\/FEFO principles where applicable. Ensure products are protected from damage, contamination or incorrect handling. Monitor ageing stock and communicate potential slow moving or obsolete inventory. Ensure finished goods are available for dispatch when required. Picking, Loading & Dispatch Coordinate the picking and staging of customer orders. Ensure products are picked accurately according to dispatch SOP. Verify product codes, quantities, batch numbers and packaging before loading. Coordinate loading activities with drivers and transporters. Ensure vehicles are loaded safely and efficiently. Ensure dispatch documentation is complete and accurate. Coordinate with Logistics and the Operations Planner regarding daily dispatch priorities. Ensure urgent and priority customer orders are handled appropriately. Monitor dispatch progress and communicate any delays or issues. Ensure returned goods are correctly identified, segregated and processed. Inventory Management & Stock Accuracy Maintain accurate physical and system stock levels. Conduct regular cycle counts and stock checks. Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies. Participate in periodic stock counts and year-end stock takes. Ensure all stock movements are accurately recorded in SAP. Monitor stock adjustments and ensure they are properly authorised. Investigate differences between physical and system inventory. Maintain accurate records of damaged, quarantined, rejected and obsolete stock. Work with Finance and Operations to resolve inventory variances. Chemical & Lubricant Product Handling Ensure all products are handled, stored and moved in accordance with company procedures and applicable safety requirements. Ensure chemical products are correctly labelled and identified. Maintain appropriate segregation of incompatible materials where required. Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and relevant product information are readily accessible. Ensure warehouse employees understand the correct handling requirements for products. Report spills, leaks, damaged containers or unsafe conditions immediately. Ensure appropriate spill-response equipment and emergency procedures are understood and available. Work with SHEQ\/Quality personnel to maintain safe storage and handling practices. Staff Supervision Supervise, train and develop warehouse employees. Allocate daily duties and monitor employee performance. Ensure sufficient staffing for receiving, picking, loading and dispatch requirements. Conduct toolbox talks and operational briefings where required. Ensure employees follow company procedures and safety requirements. Monitor attendance, punctuality and productivity. Address performance and disciplinary matters in accordance with company procedures. Promote teamwork, accountability and good communication within the warehouse. Health, Safety & Housekeeping Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the warehouse and surrounding areas. Ensure warehouse personnel comply with health and safety procedures. Conduct regular inspections of warehouse areas. Identify and report unsafe conditions and potential hazards. Ensure correct PPE is used. Ensure safe operation of forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Ensure pedestrian and vehicle movement is controlled appropriately. Ensure emergency exits, fire equipment and access routes remain unobstructed. Report incidents, near misses, spills and damages promptly. Participate in safety investigations and corrective actions where required. Equipment & Warehouse Assets Ensure forklifts and other warehouse equipment are used correctly. Conduct or coordinate pre-use equipment checks. Report defective equipment immediately. Monitor warehouse equipment availability and maintenance requirements. Ensure equipment is stored safely when not in use. Monitor pallet and packaging requirements. Minimise product and packaging damage caused by handling. Documentation Ensure all warehouse transactions are accurately captured. Process receipts, transfers, issues, picking and dispatch transactions. Maintain accurate batch and lot information. Ensure documentation is completed and filed correctly. Maintain records of stock movements, discrepancies, damages and returns. Produce warehouse reports as required by management. Ensure physical warehouse activities match system transactions. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency and productivity. Improve warehouse layout and storage utilisation. Reduce picking, loading and receiving errors. Reduce product damage and stock losses. Improve stock accuracy. Reduce truck and transporter waiting times. Improve warehouse housekeeping and safety standards. Develop and implement improved warehouse procedures. Monitor warehouse performance and recommend improvements to management. Key Requirements: Qualifications Diploma or qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management or Operations Management advantageous. Forklift certification\/licence advantageous. Additional health and safety training advantageous. Experience Experience in warehouse operations , preferably at supervisory level. Experience supervising warehouse personnel. Experience in receiving, storage, picking and dispatch operations. Experience with inventory control and stock reconciliation. Experience using SAP system. Experience in a chemical, lubricant, petrochemical, manufacturing or industrial environment would be highly advantageous. Experience handling bulk materials and\/or hazardous chemical products would be advantageous. Experience coordinating with transporters and drivers.
