Our reputable QSR \/ Retail client is seeking an experienced and highly driven Training Manager to join their team. Purpose of the Role The Training Manager will be responsible for executing and managing training delivery across an assigned portfolio of stores, ensuring that employees and store leadership are trained in line with operational, product, food safety, and brand standards. The successful candidate will plan and coordinate training schedules, facilitate key learning interventions, manage and coach trainers, and provide training support for new store openings, revamps, and operational requirements. The role will also be responsible for monitoring training completion and employee competence, identifying and addressing skills gaps, and partnering closely with Operations and the Regional Training Manager to continuously improve store capability and training effectiveness. Minimum Requirements Qualifications Grade 12 \/ Matric. Relevant Diploma in Human Resources, Education, Training & Development, Operations, or a related field. Registered Assessor and\/or Facilitator accreditation will be advantageous. Experience Minimum 3-5 years' Training & Development experience. Practical experience in operational training and facilitation. At least 1-2 years' experience in a Senior Trainer, Team Lead or Training Supervisory role preferred. Previous experience within QSR, Retail, Hospitality or another high-volume operational environment is strongly preferred. Skills & Competencies Strong facilitation and presentation skills. Key Responsibilities Training Delivery & Facilitation Deliver and oversee practical, classroom and on-the-job training across assigned stores. Facilitate induction, product knowledge, food safety, systems, and operational skills training. Facilitate development programmes for Managers and Team Leaders. Ensure all training is engaging, consistent and aligned with approved training frameworks, SOPs and brand standards. Training Planning & Needs Analysis Identify training and capability gaps through store visits, assessments, operational feedback, and audit findings. Work closely with Area Managers and Store Managers to understand training requirements. Develop and maintain training schedules in line with regional priorities and the approved training calendar. Prioritize training interventions according to operational risk, performance gaps, new product launches, and business requirements. New Store Openings & Operational Readiness Coordinate and deliver training for new store openings, revamps, and relaunches. Ensure employees are fully trained, assessed and operationally ready prior to opening. Provide post-opening coaching and follow-up support. Identify and close capability gaps following store launches. Trainer Leadership & Development Allocate training assignments and coordinate the day-to-day activities of trainers. Coach trainers on facilitation quality, operational knowledge, learner engagement, and assessment consistency. Monitor trainer performance and provide development support. Escalate performance, capability, capacity or conduct concerns where required. Provide leadership and guidance to Manager Trainers, Skills Trainers, Classroom Trainers, and Training Administration. Assessment, Compliance & Reporting Assess employee competence through practical evaluations, knowledge assessments, and observation. Track training attendance, completion rates, and assessment outcomes. Monitor mandatory training compliance across assigned stores. Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records. Provide training reports and compliance updates to the Regional Training Manager. Training Quality & Continuous Improvement Provide feedback on training materials, SOPs, assessments, and learning tools. Support the rollout and testing of new training content and digital learning tools. Support blended learning initiatives. Identify recurring operational learning gaps and recommend targeted training interventions. Continuously improve facilitation, coaching, assessment, and learner engagement methods. Stakeholder Engagement Partner closely with Area Managers and Store Managers to coordinate training activities. Resolve training-related operational challenges. Provide feedback regarding store capability, training readiness, and recurring skills gaps. Support regional training projects and wider business initiatives. Key Performance Indicators The successful candidate will be measured against: Training completion rates across assigned stores. Assessment pass rates and demonstrated employee competence. New store and revamp training readiness. Mandatory training compliance. Accuracy of training records. Training calendar adherence and store coverage. Improvement in store audit and operational performance within trained areas. Trainer delivery quality and completion of assigned training activities. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Training Manager who is comfortable working directly within stores and operational environments rather than operating purely from a classroom or corporate training perspective. They should be confident managing trainers, facilitating training themselves, identifying operational skills gaps and working closely with store and area management to improve performance. QSR \/ Retail \/ Hospitality operational training experience will be highly advantageous.
