Trainee Manager

About the role    

• As a Trainee Manager, your purpose is to learn all the ins and outs of managing a supermarket, its products and the employees who make the store a success.

What you'll do    

• Assist in the daily management of supermarket operations to ensure smooth and efficient store functioning.
• Support the development and coaching of team members to foster a motivated and high-performing workforce.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, hygiene, health, and safety standards at all times.
• Contribute to effective inventory control and loss prevention initiatives to sustain financial performance.
• Provide excellent customer service, creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all shoppers.
• Participate in financial and administrative tasks, aiding in budgeting, reporting, and cost control.
• Promote a positive store culture based on trust, honesty, integrity, and respect.
• Support in implementing marketing and promotional activities to drive sales and customer engagement.
• Assist in resolving customer and employee concerns promptly and professionally.
• Learn and apply leadership principles to prepare for future managerial responsibilities.

What you bring    

• Matric certificate or equivalent secondary education qualification is required.
• Previous experience in retail or customer service environments is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and team members.
• Basic understanding of retail operations, including inventory management and loss prevention, is preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership potential with willingness to learn and develop management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Proactive problem-solving skills to address customer and employee concerns professionally.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail to support administrative and financial tasks.

• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required in a retail environment.
