Technical Specialist

Job Advert Summary

Clover is looking for a Techical Specialist to play a critical technical role bridging research, development, engineering, and operations. This role is responsible for driving product technology initiatives, verifying Bill of Materials (BOM), supporting quality investigations, and safeguarding business continuity through proactive ingredient raw material management and cross-functional collaboration.

Product Cost Optimization 

• Identify and execute formulation optimization opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs while maintaining product quality and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain regular engagement with ingredient and processing technology suppliers to stay informed of new developments, emerging technologies, and potential improvement opportunities

Procurement Support 

• Provide technical support to the Procurement Department in sourcing, evaluating, and qualifying alternative raw materials and suppliers to strengthen supply chain resilience and support commercial negotiations

BOM Development and Maintenance 

• Develop new BOMs and revise existing BOMs when new or alternative ingredients are introduced or when process changes affect material requirements, quantities, or yields.
• Resolve BOM-related issues and maintain existing BOMs to ensure accuracy and alignment with current production requirement.

Cross-Functional Technical Support 

• Collaborate with engineering to ensure process parameters, mixing conditions, and equipment constraints align with formulation requirements during scale-up and trials.
• Act as the primary technical bridge between Formulation Specialists and Process Engineering.
• Collaborate with Quality and Formulation Specialists to investigate escalated product deviations and support the implementation of appropriate corrective actions

Technical Centre of Knowledge 

• Develop, maintain, and share a central repository of product and process technology knowledge, including technical learnings, trial outcomes, investigation findings, processing guidelines, and best practices.
• Develop technical requirements and specifications for Requests for Proposal (RFPs) initiated by the required technical services department and/or on the behalf of departments which Technical Services support.

• A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or Food Science and Technology
• Proven experience in product formulation, raw material qualification, and manufacturing scale-up would be advantageous.
• Plan, conduct, and document laboratory and pilot plant trials to support product and process technology investigations.
• Willingness to Travel for extended periods of time
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Must be willing to take own initiative when faced with an obstacle and provide possible solutions or alternatives
• Willingness to engage with other departments without working in isolation continuously
