Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Define the delivery approach: Set the delivery model, governance, phase gates and documentation for each project, scaled to its size and risk.
• Run the full project lifecycle: Set up, chair and drive kickoffs, status meetings, steering forums, phase-gate reviews, retrospectives and close-out, ensuring every action is followed through.
• Own the delivery artefacts: Project timelines, delivery checklists, task allocation, dependency maps, RAID logs, and stakeholder and communication plans.
• Hold the line on timelines: Track progress against plan, identify slippage early and drive recovery. Where a date must move, manage it through a controlled change process rather than allowing drift.
• Sit inside the delivery rhythm: Attend sprint planning and daily stand-ups to ensure sprint commitments roll up to the project plan and risks surface early.
• Orchestrate effort across the business: Coordinate every team a project depends on, across engineering, product, operations, finance and client-facing teams, so that nothing stalls on an unowned dependency.
• Own metrics and sign-off: Ensure success metrics are agreed and signed off before build begins, then validated at project close with formal stakeholder sign-off.
REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Essential
• 3–5 years' project management experience, with a proven track record of delivering technology projects.
• Experience running multiple concurrent projects across several teams and stakeholder groups.
• Strong command of agile delivery alongside traditional project controls: planning, dependency management, RAID and change control.
• Hands-on experience with delivery tools such as Jira, including building status reporting.
• Enough technical understanding to engage credibly with engineering teams and challenge estimates.
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to chair meetings and hold senior stakeholders to commitments.
• Able to work from our Sandton office during business hours, with one remote day per week.
Advantageous
• Formal project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, CSM, PSM or similar).
• Consultancy or engagement management background.
• Experience in financial services, tax or fintech.
Behavioural Profile
• Ownership: Treats every project outcome as their own.
• Drive: Pushes delivery forward rather than waiting for others to act.
• Assertive: Comfortable challenging timelines and holding people to account, constructively.
• Structured: Highly organised and detail-driven; nothing falls through the gaps.
• Curious: Gets into the detail enough to understand the work, not just schedule it.
