POSITION INFO:
Company and Job Description: Our client is a leading national retailer with a significant footprint across South Africa, where technology plays a vital role in supporting stores, warehouses, and head office operations. As the Systems Administrator, you will serve as the operational backbone of the IT function, overseeing day-to-day infrastructure support, managing escalations, coordinating field technicians and service providers, and maintaining critical systems across cloud, hosted, and on-premises environments. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and manage the IT support queue, ensuring incidents and service requests are resolved within agreed service levels Administer and support server, virtualisation, storage, identity, collaboration, and endpoint technologies Supervise and mentor field technicians while coordinating regional support activities and site deployments Manage system patching, endpoint security, user provisioning, access controls, and security-related escalations Job Experience and Skills Required: Relevant IT Diploma, Degree, or equivalent technical qualification 3-5 years' experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Support, or a similar technical role Strong knowledge of server administration, virtualisation, networking, identity management, and endpoint technologies Experience supporting cloud, hosted, and on-premises environments Exposure to backup and disaster recovery processes, monitoring tools, and security best practices Experience working with ticketing systems, remote support tools, asset management systems, and technical documentation Proven ability to coordinate workloads, manage escalations, and mentor junior technical staff Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel when required Retail, multi-site, or highly distributed environment experience will be advantageous Apply now!
