POSITION INFO:
To support the installation, maintenance, and removal of outdoor advertising structures while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in all tasks performed on-site. This includes the flighting of various static formats such as billboards, street poles, and bus shelters, as well as the handling of digital displays (TVs, screens, and related technology). The role contributes directly to the successful execution of OOH advertising campaigns. Key Responsibilities Installation of Advertising Materials Install outdoor advertising materials, including vinyl, PVC, flex banners, and digital screens, in line with job schedules and company specifications. Ensure correct alignment, visual quality, secure mounting, and professional presentation of all displays. Assist in the flighting of billboards, digital screens, and other formats while maintaining safety and quality standards. Maintenance and Repairs Conduct routine inspections of both static and digital advertising structures. Clean, repair, or replace damaged materials or malfunctioning digital units to maintain display integrity. Perform both scheduled and urgent maintenance tasks to ensure assets remain safe, secure, and operational. Site Preparation and Management Prepare job sites by clearing debris, positioning tools, setting up materials, and ensuring digital equipment is prepped. Manage logistics to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime. Move and correctly position advertising bins and structures according to campaign plans. Comply with site-specific regulations (e.g., PRASA, Transnet, ACSA). Compliance with Health & Safety Standards Follow all health and safety procedures, including the use of PPE and adherence to risk protocols. Complete Daily Safe Task Instruction (DSTI) assessments and actively participate in toolbox talks. Report any hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately. Leave all work areas clean and dispose of waste materials responsibly. Team Collaboration and Logistics Work closely with crew members to execute tasks efficiently across both static and digital media formats. Assist with loading, unloading, transporting materials and screens, and securing tools for travel and use. Adhere to working-at-heights procedures and support safe team practices on-site. Record-Keeping and Stock Maintain accurate records of installations, digital display configurations, maintenance tasks, and material usage. Provide real-time updates on site progress and report any issues affecting job completion. Participate in monthly stock takes and promptly report any tool or material shortages. Operational Efficiency Execute all tasks efficiently and professionally to reduce operational delays and costs. Take responsibility for the care, condition, and correct use of tools, digital devices, and company vehicles. Use company resources appropriately and ensure alignment with project requirements and timelines. Key Competencies Physical Fitness: Able to lift, climb, and perform hands-on work at heights and outdoors. Attention to Detail: Ensures precision in the alignment and appearance of both static and digital displays. Teamwork: Collaborates effectively with other crew members on-site. Instruction Following: Follows operational instructions and safety procedures accurately. Tool Proficiency: Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and basic digital installation tools. Safety Awareness: Demonstrates a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards. Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with or willingness to learn the basics of digital signage and electronics (e.g., screens, mounts, cables, media players). Working Conditions Field-based, outdoor work with exposure to varying weather conditions. Requires work at heights using ladders, scaffolds, or harnesses. Flexible working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as needed. Tools & Equipment Hand and power tools, PPE, safety harnesses for elevated work. Digital signage hardware (TVs, screens, brackets, cables). Mobile device for Opus job reporting and crew communication. Company vehicle as assigned for transport of crew and materials. Special Requirements Must be medically fit for fieldwork and physically able to handle heavy materials. Must be certified (or willing to be trained) in working at heights. Must have a valid Code B driver's license. Willingness to learn and assist with digital display technologies.
