Service Desk Engineer

SUMMARY:
Durban. An established IT services company is seeking an experienced Service Desk Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will provide technical support to a portfolio of clients, resolving issues across Microsoft 365, Windows Server, cloud, networking and endpoint environments. This is a technical support role, with occasional customer-site visits as required.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements: Matric / Grade 12 3-5 years' relevant IT support or systems administration experience, ideally within an MSP environment Current Microsoft 365 certification CompTIA Network+ (N+) or equivalent networking certification Solid hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Windows Server and network troubleshooting Good problem-solving, communication and customer service skills Valid driver's licence and own ability to travel to client sites when required Responsibilities: Provide remote technical support and troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system and connectivity issues Administer and support Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive Manage user accounts, permissions, security settings and access-related issues Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, virtualisation and backup solutions Diagnose and resolve network, firewall, wireless, VPN and connectivity problems Manage service desk tickets, incidents and escalations through to resolution Monitor and maintain client systems, servers and endpoints, including updates, security and routine maintenance Assist with IT upgrades, installations, migrations and infrastructure projects Maintain accurate technical documentation and keep clients informed throughout the support process Advantageous: IT-related Diploma or Degree Additional Microsoft, Azure, Windows Server, CompTIA A+ or ITIL certifications Experience with Hyper-V, PowerShell, RMM tools, PSA ticketing systems, endpoint security and backup solutions If you enjoy solving technical challenges, working across a variety of IT environments and delivering excellent customer service, this could be an excellent opportunity to grow your career.
