PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

- The Senior Lecturer in Marketing will contribute to teaching and learning, research, postgraduate supervision and engagement within the Business School. The incumbent will teach Marketing and related areas across the School's postgraduate and executive education portfolio, contribute to curriculum development and renewal, conduct and publish relevant research, supervise postgraduate students, and participate in scholarly and professional engagement.
- The position requires a developing scholar with demonstrated expertise in Marketing and related areas such as marketing strategy, consumer behaviour, digital marketing, marketing analytics, brand management or customer experience. The incumbent will contribute to strengthening the academic quality, relevance and scholarly profile of Marketing within the Business School.
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching & Learning
- Provide high-quality postgraduate teaching in Marketing and related areas; contribute to innovative curriculum design, development and review across MBA, postgraduate and Executive Education offerings.
Postgraduate Supervision
- Provide high-quality supervision of master's and doctoral research in Marketing and related business and management fields, supporting timely completion and scholarly development.
Research & Scholarly Impact
- Conduct and publish high-quality research in Marketing and related fields; contribute to collaborative research, research capacity development and the scholarly reputation and societal impact of the Business School.
Engagement & Thought Leadership
- Participate in professional, organisational and societal engagement and contribute to executive education, professional networks and emerging thought leadership on contemporary people and workplace challenges.
Minimum requirements
- PhD (NQF10) Marketing or a closely related field, with demonstrated scholarly expertise in Marketing.
- Three (3) years’ experience of high-quality teaching in Marketing or related business disciplines at postgraduate level, preferably within a Business School environment.
- Three (3) industry experience or professional engagement relevant to Marketing management, consulting or executive education.
- Experience in curriculum, module or learning-material development and review.
- Demonstrated research capability with a developing record of publication in recognised peer-reviewed academic outlets in Marketing or related fields.
- Experience in postgraduate research supervision or co-supervision, with evidence of capacity to develop as an independent postgraduate supervisor.
ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES:
- Membership of a recognised national or international academic or professional association relevant to Marketing or Business Management.
