Senior Electrical Draughtsperson | Consulting Engineering

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Draughtsperson for a 12-month contract opportunity based in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing technical drawings and supporting the technical team across electrical, mechanical, civil and structural building-related projects.

The ideal candidate must have strong technical draughting experience, the ability to conduct site measurements and assessments, and the capability to prepare accurate drawings in accordance with project requirements.

Proficiency in MicroStation is a mandatory requirement for this position.

• Relevant qualification in Electrical Draughting, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical drawing and design.

• Proven experience producing technical engineering drawings.

• Proficiency in MicroStation is essential.

• Experience with electrical, mechanical, building structure and stormwater drainage drawings.

• Ability to interpret technical information, drawings, specifications and design instructions.

• Experience conducting site measurements, site visits and assessments.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.

• Good communication, organisational and time-management skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary technical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and update technical drawings for electrical, mechanical, building structures and stormwater drainage.

• Conduct site measurements and assessments to obtain the information required for technical drawings.

• Prepare site drawings and measurements for architectural works.

• Assist with compiling scopes of work and identifying technical requirements for various projects.

• Support the technical team by preparing and coordinating additional drawings, including mechanical and electrical drawings.

• Interpret engineering information, site measurements and technical instructions to develop accurate drawings.

• Incorporate design changes and maintain accurate drawing revisions.

• Coordinate drawings with the relevant technical disciplines to ensure consistency and accuracy.

• Conduct site visits and assessments as required.

• Identify missing information or technical discrepancies and communicate these to the relevant project team members.

• Ensure that drawings meet project requirements and are completed within agreed deadlines.
