Senior Design Engineer (Roads)

GIBB’s Roads and Highways Services Delivery Unit provides a comprehensive range of services that include traditional consulting services (design, procurement and contract supervision), Public Private Partnership (PPP) solutions and asset management services. This includes high capacity freeways, interchanges and bridges, airport pavements, rural roads (including low volume and haul roads) and municipal infrastructure. The team is supported by transportation and traffic engineers, geotechnical and material engineers, and other specialists.

This Sector is looking for another talented professional to complement their team, in the form of a Senior Design Engineer (Roads).

Core Purpose

Perform and/or technically lead a team to prepare clear and accurate technical Designs, Drawings, diagrams, BOQs and other technical documents based on design specifications, using Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software. The successful candidate's other core duties will include assisting in Business Development and project management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for/should possess the following:

• Perform Designs and Implementation of Infrastructure projects (Roads geometrics design specifically) and the Infrastructure element of multi disciplinary projects.
• Lead medium to large size projects 
• Preparation of bid documents
• Contract Administration for projects on Construction Phase
• Optimise utilisation on revenue earning work
• Service excellence
• Compliance with Quality Management System
• Contribution to efficiency and effectiveness of sector.
• Mentor junior staff members
• Assist in the Preparation of Bids

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

• BSc Civil Engineering (ECSA Registered)
• MSc Civil Engineering will be an added advantage

Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years roads geometric design related experience (Civil 3D software).
• Experience in major roads such as Dual Carriageway designs and Freeways designs
• Experience in leading bid documents preparation
• Experience in preparing Construction tender documentation, tender evaluations and contract administration related to roads projects
• Experience in Contract Administration will be an added advantage
• Experience in Pavement and/or hydrology design will be an added advantage
• Experience on design projects in the rest of Africa will be an added advantage
