POSITION INFO:
Join a purpose-driven technology team dedicated to creating safer cycling experiences through innovative software solutions. As a Full Stack Ruby Developer, you will play a key role in enhancing and scaling web and mobile platforms that support bicycle security, insurance, and recovery services. This role combines backend development, cloud engineering, and DevOps practices, allowing you to take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle. You'll work closely with Product and Engineering teams to design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable applications while contributing to the ongoing evolution of a platform with international reach. Based in Cape Town, this role offers flexible working hours in a collaborative, mission-focused environment where your work directly contributes to solving real-world challenges and improving customer experiences. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Ruby on Rails Build efficient, reusable, and maintainable code following best development practices Design, develop, and maintain AWS-based deployment and operational systems Support platform scalability, performance, reliability, and security Contribute to the development of cross-platform mobile applications Collaborate with Product and Design teams to define, build, and release new features Troubleshoot application issues and optimise system performance Improve deployment processes and support DevOps initiatives Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements to products and processes Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives Job Experience and Skills Required: Education: Relevant Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field advantageous Experience: 4-6 years' experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role Proven experience building and maintaining production applications Experience working within Agile software development environments Technical Skills: Ruby on Rails Ruby Development Devise Omniauth RSpec AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, Aurora PostgreSQL, Redis, Ubuntu, Nginx) HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Front-end frameworks such as React REST APIs and application integrations Automated testing and unit testing DevOps and deployment processes Advantageous: React Native Mobile application development Experience within InsurTech, FinTech, or SaaS environments Interest in cycling, mobility, or bike security industries Additional Requirements: Strong understanding of scalable application design principles Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong communication and teamwork abilities Self-motivated and able to work independently Passion for building quality software and driving continuous improvement Apply now!
