PURPOSE OF ROLE
The incumbent leads the end-to-end recruitment and selection process across the company and its subsidiaries, applying sound recruitment methodology and process discipline at every stage, while also providing broader generalist HR support. The role suits an HR all-rounder who can move fluidly between specialist recruitment delivery and day-to-day generalist HR support, ensuring that all activity is conducted timeously, professionally, and in full compliance with legal requirements and Employment Equity / Transformation imperatives.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Sourcing and Attraction
- Develop, place, and manage job advertisements across internal, external and industry-specific platforms for engineering/specialist talent.
- Proactively source candidates for scarce and critical skills using direct search, networks, and talent databases.
- Build and maintain a talent pipeline for recurring, critical, and hard-to-fill roles.
- Represent Lesedi at recruitment fairs at universities and training institutions to build a skills pipeline.
Screening and Selection
- Screen CVs and applications against approved job specifications and minimum requirements.
- Conduct initial screening interviews and coordinate competency-based interviews with hiring managers.
- Coordinate psychometric and technical assessments where required.
- Verify qualifications, conduct reference checks, and manage pre-employment screening (including criminal, credit and security clearance checks, and nuclear-sector vetting where applicable).
- Ensure compliance in the recruitment of non-South African candidates.
- Ensure appointments are a strong culture fit, aligned with company values and talent development strategy.
Process and Compliance Management
- Ensure all recruitment activity complies with the Labour Relations Act (LRA), Employment Equity Act (EEA), and relevant EE targets and plans.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready recruitment records to support Employment Equity and B-BBEE reporting.
- Handle candidate personal information in line with POPIA.
- Manage recruitment activity within approved organograms and budgeted headcount.
- Maintain and retain recruitment documentation in line with company policy.
Stakeholder and Offer Management
- Partner with line and hiring managers to understand role requirements and participate fully in pre-interview meetings.
- Keep role profiles up to date and formalised.
- Prepare and negotiate employment offers within approved remuneration bands and divisional budgets.
- Draft employment contracts, including fixed-term and project-based placements, in consultation with Payroll.
- Coordinate handover to Payroll and line management for onboarding and induction.
- Obtain client feedback following every placement.
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Track and report recruitment metrics, including time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and progress against Employment Equity targets.
- Provide regular reporting to HR leadership on vacancy status and pipeline health.
- Recommend and implement improvements to recruitment processes, tools, and candidate experience.
- Assist with other HR projects as required.
QUALIFICATION
- NQF Level 7 (Degree / Advanced Diploma) in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
- Membership of a recognised HR or People Management professional body advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence (local / national travel may be required).
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years' recruitment experience within an engineering, EPC, or technical/industrial environment;
- Experience recruiting for scarce and critical technical skills
- Experience in cross-border recruitment and appointments
- Proven experience in best-practice recruitment and retention.
- Experience advising line managers on recruitment matters.
- Experience across the full recruitment cycle: interviewing, candidate screening, reference checking, recruitment administration and onboarding.
- Experience in a corporate, engineering, construction, industrial or similarly complex environment advantageous.
- Experience providing broader HR generalist support – such as onboarding, employee relations, performance management, labour relations or training coordination – advantageous.
