SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking an experienced Production Foreman to oversee and coordinate daily production activities within a manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising employees, ensuring production targets are met, maintaining safe working practices, and assisting with machinery, maintenance and process improvements.
This is a 100% factory-based, hands-on supervisory position suited to someone with practical manufacturing or production experience who is comfortable working with machinery, equipment and people.
POSITION INFO:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare the production area, equipment and raw materials before production begins. Oversee daily production activities and ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved. Ensure the correct raw materials, equipment and process settings are used. Monitor machinery, pumps, mixing systems, conveyors and other production equipment to ensure they are operational and safe. Identify production problems, breakdowns and quality issues and take appropriate corrective action. Allocate daily tasks to employees and ensure responsibilities and priorities are clearly communicated. Supervise employee performance, productivity, discipline and compliance with safety procedures. Provide guidance and support to employees to ensure work is carried out correctly and efficiently. Monitor staffing requirements and report absenteeism, poor performance or disciplinary matters to management. Oversee the safe receipt, storage, handling and use of chemical raw materials. Monitor chemical stock levels and ensure chemicals are correctly labelled, stored and handled. Ensure employees use the required PPE and follow chemical handling and safety procedures. Assist with chemical spills, exposure incidents and other safety-related matters. Conduct regular inspections of production equipment and assist with preventative maintenance. Identify wear, leaks, damaged components and potential equipment failures before they affect production. Report equipment faults and follow up on required repairs. Assist with machinery repairs, equipment upgrades and production improvement projects. Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity and equipment reliability. Assist with implementing work instructions, checklists and standard operating procedures. Ensure required production, quality, maintenance and safety records are completed. Assist with investigating production deviations, equipment failures and quality issues. Maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness within production and chemical storage areas. Participate in safety inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations. Work closely with the production and maintenance teams to minimise production downtime. REQUIREMENTS : Grade 12 \/ Matric - minimum requirement. Previous practical experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Previous experience in a supervisory, team leader or foreman role will be advantageous. Practical experience working with machinery, pumps, piping and general mechanical maintenance. Knowledge of chemical handling and workplace safety will be advantageous. Knowledge of preventative maintenance will be advantageous. Basic electrical knowledge will be advantageous. A relevant trade qualification will be advantageous. A valid driver's licence will be advantageous. Strong leadership and communication skills. Practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving. Strong sense of responsibility, accountability and ownership. Ability to manage employees fairly but firmly. Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and follow through on tasks. Safety-conscious and able to work according to strict procedures. Reliable, punctual and attentive to detail. Comfortable working in a hands-on factory environment.
