Product Development Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Product Development Engineer to join a manufacturing team in KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, designing and improving products, ensuring they meet quality standards, performance requirements and manufacturing specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products in line with technical and customer requirements.
• Improve existing products, designs and manufacturing processes.
• Develop and maintain detailed engineering drawings and product specifications.
• Use CAD software, including SolidWorks, to create and modify product designs.
• Manage engineering changes and product updates (ECNs and ECIs).
• Coordinate and manage product development projects from concept through to implementation.
• Conduct technical evaluations and resolve product design challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality and manufacturing.
• Ensure product designs comply with relevant engineering standards and specifications.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and project records.

• NQF Level 7 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, such as a BEng, BSc, or Advanced Diploma.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant engineering experience.
• Experience in product design and development within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Experience managing engineering changes, including ECNs and ECIs.
• Strong project management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
