Procurement Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a Procurement Manager to take full ownership of the procurement department. The successful candidate must be proactive, hands-on, organized and commercially minded. The candidate must constantly monitor what is happening, identify potential problems before they occur and take immediate action to resolve issues.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities: Stock availability and preventing unnecessary stock shortages. Purchasing accuracy and correct order placement. Competitive buying prices and improved profit margins. Supplier performance and delivery timelines. Effective stock control and purchasing planning. Minimizing costly procurement mistakes. Maintaining a disciplined, efficient and accountable department. Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 (Matric); a Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Management advantageous. Minimum 5-7 years' experience in procurement or purchasing, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role. Proven experience managing a procurement function, purchasing team and supplier relationships. Strong experience in stock control, inventory management and procurement planning. Proven ability to negotiate supplier pricing, payment terms and delivery arrangements. Good understanding of cost control, budgeting and gross profit margins. Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in MS Excel and procurement/inventory management systems (ERP).
