Procurement Buyer

POSITION INFO:
Our client is recruiting a Procurement Buyer to support purchasing activities within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will manage supplier orders, monitor material availability and coordinate deliveries to support production requirements. Duties and responsibilities Purchase materials in line with approved requirements and production schedules. Prepare purchase orders and confirm pricing, specifications, quantities and delivery terms. Monitor outstanding orders and follow up on delayed or urgent deliveries. Work closely with internal departments to identify material requirements and prevent shortages. Obtain quotations, compare costs and negotiate favourable purchasing terms. Build and maintain relationships with local and international suppliers. Monitor supplier performance and assist with resolving delivery and quality concerns. Coordinate imported orders and follow up on shipping schedules and supporting documentation. Identify supply risks, investigate alternative suppliers and escalate potential disruptions. Maintain accurate procurement records and support cost-saving initiatives. Minimum requirements Diploma or degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Commerce or a related field. Purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment. Experience working with local and international suppliers. Exposure to ERP/MRP purchasing and materials-planning systems. Experience purchasing raw materials, industrial consumables or production materials would be advantageous. CIPS or another recognised procurement qualification would be advantageous.
