Process Technician

• An established manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Process Technician to maintain and optimize its process control and instrumentation systems. This hands-on role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to plant reliability, automation support and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the optimal functioning of control and instrumentation components throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Manage calibration records for process scales and weighbridges.
• Calibrate and monitor process scales, electronic weighing systems and weighbridges.
• Calibrate and oversee the proper functioning of electronic flowmeters.
• Develop and update process control drawings for maintenance and projects using Microsoft Visio.
• Plan modifications and alterations to Beckhoff I/O lists.
• Submit updated I/O information to the relevant system integrator.
• Assist electricians with automation fault-finding, including after-hours standby support when required.
• Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programme.
• Complete related technical and administrative duties accurately.

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma or BTech degree in Electrical Engineering, including Industrial Control Systems as a subject.
• At least five years’ post-qualification experience within a factory, plant or similar manufacturing environment.
• Practical experience in industrial instrumentation and process control systems.
• Experience with electronic weighing systems and PLCs.
• Knowledge of variable-speed drives and soft starters would be beneficial.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience creating or updating technical drawings using Microsoft Visio.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• A balanced approach to hands-on plant work and technical administration.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Ideally residing in Paarl or the surrounding area.
