Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Print Production Manager for their Head Office.The Print Production Manager is responsible for the end-to-end production, finishing, and distribution of marketing materials across the Dis-Chem ecosystem, including retail, pharmacy, clinics, insurance, promotions, and activations/events. The role leads a multi-functional production team, ensuring creative is accurately adapted, produced, finished, and delivered to the correct locations for the correct channels. The role works in close coordination with the Creative Studio Traffic Manager to ensure seamless workflow from creative development into production, aligning timelines, priorities, and resource allocation. The role also drives operational excellence across print production, including substrate selection, cost management, wastage reduction, and process optimisation.
Minimum Requirements…
Essential:
- Degree or diploma in Print Production, Operations, or related field
- 5+ years’ experience in print/production, with team leadership responsibility
- 5 –8 years’ experience in a leadership or people management role within print production, retail production, or operational delivery environments.
- Experience in retail or multi-channel production environments
Responsibilities
Production planning and workflow management
- Oversee end-to-end workflow: creative adaptation to print production to finishing to distribution
- Work closely with the Creative Studio Traffic Manager to align production schedules with creative delivery timelines and campaign priorities.
- Plan production capacity based on incoming creative pipeline and campaign calendars
- Account for varying formats across stores, clinics, and other environments when planning production
Execution and production operations
- Oversee print production across all materials (in-store signage, POS, campaign collateral, clinic and pharmacy materials, activation assets).
- Receive and validate final creative assets from the Traffic Manager, ensuring readiness for production and flagging any issues early.
- Ensure correct substrates, finishes, and production techniques are used
- Manage finishing processes and oversee distribution to all required locations
Stakeholder alignment and team leadership
- Lead and manage the production team: Production Administrator, DTP Operator(s), Finishing Team Lead & Clerk, Distribution Manager.
- Coordinate daily with the Creative Studio Traffic Manager to manage priorities, deadlines, and workload across creative and production teams.
- Collaborate with Promotions, Visual Merchandising, Marketing, and Creative Studio teams
- Align timelines, expectations, and deliverables across stakeholders.
Governance, cost management and quality control
- Ensure all outputs meet brand, legal, and technical standards before distribution
- Establish clear handoff protocols with the Traffic Manager, ensuring all assets are approved, final, and production-ready before entering production.
- Manage production budgets, supplier costs, and internal efficiencies
- Drive reduction in material wastage and improve production efficiency
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure SLA adherence

- Deep knowledge of print production, print machines, retail environment and different types of POS items required in store, substrates, finishing processes, and distribution logistics.
- Thorough working knowledge of Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign

- Experience working with workflow management systems and structured handoff processes
