Piping Design Lead

SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Lead Piping Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering environment. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and oversee piping design and engineering activities across multidisciplinary projects.
This role requires extensive experience in piping design, engineering coordination, technical specifications and project execution, with the ability to lead design teams and ensure that engineering deliverables meet project requirements, industry standards and client specifications.

POSITION INFO:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Lead Piping Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering environment. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and oversee piping design and engineering activities across multidisciplinary projects. This role requires extensive experience in piping design, engineering coordination, technical specifications and project execution, with the ability to lead design teams and ensure that engineering deliverables meet project requirements, industry standards and client specifications. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate piping engineering and design activities across multiple projects. Manage and provide technical direction to piping designers, engineers and draughting teams. Review and approve piping layouts, general arrangements, isometric drawings and piping design deliverables. Oversee the development of piping specifications, material selection and technical documentation. Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, standards, regulations and client specifications. Coordinate piping design interfaces with mechanical, civil, structural, process, instrumentation and electrical disciplines. Review P&IDs, equipment layouts, plot plans and piping arrangements. Provide technical input on pipe routing, stress considerations, equipment connections and constructability. Participate in design reviews, model reviews, HAZOPs and technical meetings. Identify and resolve technical design issues and engineering challenges. Monitor design progress, resource allocation, project schedules and engineering deliverables. Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors and project stakeholders. Support procurement activities through technical evaluations and review of vendor documentation. Provide technical support during construction, installation, commissioning and project close-out. Drive continuous improvement in piping design methodologies, engineering standards and quality processes. Minimum Requirements B.Eng., B.Sc. Eng. or B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline. Extensive experience in piping design and engineering within an EPC, EPCM, consulting or industrial project environment. Proven experience leading piping engineering and design teams. Strong understanding of piping systems, layouts, specifications and engineering deliverables. Knowledge of relevant piping codes and standards, including ASME and applicable industry standards. Experience with P&IDs, piping isometrics, equipment layouts and piping general arrangements. Proficiency in relevant piping design software, such as: AutoCAD Plant 3D AVEVA E3D / PDMS Hexagon Smart 3D CADWorx Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering interfaces. Excellent technical problem-solving, leadership and project coordination skills.
