Operations Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client is a leading manufacturing, steel cut-and-bend and processing operation supplying major construction projects across Mauritius. They are seeking an experienced and results-driven Operations Manager to lead and oversee all factory, bar yard, transport, and maintenance functions. Reporting directly to the General Manager/ Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational excellence, productivity, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction across the business. 
This opportunity is ideally suited to a seasoned operations professional with a strong manufacturing background and experience within the steel processing, fabrication, or construction materials industry. Applicants must be willing to relocate to Mauritius.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements Degree or tertiary qualification in Engineering, Production Management, Operations Management, or a related field Minimum 10 years' experience within a manufacturing, processing, or factory environment At least 5 years' management experience overseeing production and operational functions Experience within the reinforcing steel, cut-and-bend, steel processing, or steel fabrication industry will be highly advantageous Proven experience working within ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems Experience managing multicultural, expatriate, and diverse workforces Strong leadership, planning, problem-solving, and organisational skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities Willingness to relocate to Mauritius Key Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and manage production, processing, and dispatch activities to ensure customer orders and project schedules are met Drive operational performance through the achievement of On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery targets, production schedule adherence, cost-per-ton objectives, and scrap/offcut reduction initiatives Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards and lead internal and external audit processes Champion health, safety, environmental, and quality initiatives, including risk assessments, toolbox talks, PPE compliance, incident investigations, and corrective actions Oversee preventative and planned maintenance programs for plant equipment, cranes, lifting machinery, and company facilities Manage the company vehicle fleet, transport operations, and associated costs while ensuring full compliance with road traffic and transport regulations Lead the recruitment, development, training, performance management, and discipline of operational staff Develop skills matrices and succession plans to support workforce development and operational continuity Manage expatriate workforce administration, including work permits, contracts, accommodation arrangements, employee welfare, and repatriation processes Prepare, monitor, and control operational budgets to ensure cost-effective resource utilization Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability Ensure effective utilization of ArmaPlus and Syspro systems for operational planning, reporting, and performance management Collaborate closely with senior leadership to support business growth, customer satisfaction, and strategic objectives
